The Arab-American Educational Foundation (AAEF) Celebrates Establishment of the Chair of Modern Arab History at the University of Houston
President of AAEF says Foundation believes that cementing right knowledge is very important to fight stereotyping and discrimination.
Middle east online, HOUSTON (Texas) – The Arab-American Educational Foundation (AAEF) celebrated officially the establishment of the Chair of Modern Arab History at the University of Houston.
Dr. Aziz Shaibani, the President of AAEF said at the opening ceremony: “In the Arab-American Educational Foundation, we believe that cementing the right knowledge to fight the stereotyping about the history and culture of Arab people is very important to fight the stereotyping and discrimination. Our slogan for this period for is: Influence through Knowledge and Influence through Education.”
Dr. Shaibani added the chair for Arab Modern Arab History will provide the University of Houston with an opportunity to teach many students about important segments of American society.
The canter of Arab studies will provide a forum for business leaders and researchers to learn about each other and to interact. Such interaction is necessary for healthy maturely beneficial relationship between America and Arab World.
The AAEF initiated an endowment campaign for a Chair of Modern Arab History at the University of Houston, the third largest university in Texas.
The Arab-American Educational Foundation was established in Houston in 1985 as a non-profit organization with the mission to promote understanding of Arab culture, history and language, through the endowment of university chairs and the sponsoring of academic programs, lecture series, cultural performances, scholarships, and research.
The AAEF has produced many successful events in the Houston area to educate the local community. The AAEF has also established the first Chair of Arab Studies in Houston, initiated at Rice University.
Currently, the AAEF has successfully raised the necessary $1 million in an endowment campaign to establish this second Chair of Arab Studies in the area, at the University of Houston.
