U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce Recognizes Jordan's Dina Kawar as "Ambassador of the Year"

The National U.S. – Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC) announced today that Her Excellency Dina Kawar, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the United States, has been selected as NUSACC’s 2018 “Ambassador of the Year.”  This award, begun in 2004, is given annually to a member of the Arab diplomatic corps in the USA for his or her outstanding contributions to U.S. – Arab commercial relations.  The invitation-only award ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 13, from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in downtown Washington DC.

“Our Chamber is proud to recognize Ambassador Kawar for her work in promoting America’s exceptional relationship with Jordan, a relationship based on shared values and mutual respect,” said David Hamod, President & CEO of NUSACC.  “The Hashemite Kingdom continues to face some extraordinary regional challenges.  But in spite of those challenges, and thanks to His Majesty King Abdullah’s leadership and commitment to regional peace and stability, the strategic relationship between our two countries continues to thrive and grow.  Ambassador Kawar’s work in Washington D.C. has helped to translate King Abdullah’s vision into action.”

Ambassador Kawar noted, “Thank you for celebrating the special trade partnership between Jordan and the United States, a partnership that has been solidified through the work and tireless efforts of NUSACC throughout the years.  I look forward to continuing to build on this solid and promising relationship.”

His Excellency Nael Al-Kabariti, NUSACC’s MENA Co-Chairman and Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce & Industry, expressed his appreciation this way: “We are proud of the work that Ambassador Kawar has done to promote bilateral commerce, a reflection of Jordan’s deep commitment to the peoples and economies of both countries.”

Ambassador Kawar’s efforts have helped to showcase Jordan as an important commercial destination for U.S. companies.  “Her efforts to build bridges to the American business community, coupled with her dedication to advancing Jordan – U.S. interests, has helped to distinguish Ambassador Kawar among members of the diplomatic corps representing the Arab world,” suggested Don DeMarino, NUSACC’s American Co-Chairman.

The National U.S. – Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC), established nearly 50 years ago, is America’s longest-serving organization dedicated to U.S. – Arab business.  NUSACC is widely regarded as the voice of American business in the 22 countries of the Arab world and the premier portal to the United States for Arab commercial enterprises.  NUSACC is the first organization of its kind to receive the President’s “E” Award for Export Service, the highest recognition that any U.S. entity may receive for supporting export activity.

The Chamber is an independent, membership-driven entity that is funded by its members and stakeholders, which include more than 40,000 companies.  NUSACC is the only business entity in the United States that is officially recognized and authorized by the League of Arab States and the Union of Arab Chambers.  As such, NUSACC is a “sister chamber” of the national chambers of commerce throughout the Arab world, including Jordan.
