Wheeling, W.VA. Lebanese-American Festival Set for Aug. 9

Parishioners of Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Wheeling will be offering their favorite Lebanese dishes to serve at the 76th annual Mahrajan held rain or shine on Aug. 9 at site 1, Levenson Shelter in Oglebay Park.

The Mahrajan, a Lebanese-American heritage festival, begins with a Maronite Catholic Mass at 10:30 a.m. All festival booths open at noon. Thousands of visitors from across the country are expected to dine on traditional Lebanese food.

This year, festival goers will enjoy live performances from singer/musician Ghada Haddad of Michigan and returning performing artists Conchi and the Alhambra Dance Troupe from Cincinnati. The Dabke, a Lebanese folklore dance also will be performed throughout the day. Continuous performances are scheduled from noon to 7 p.m. Games, inflatable rides and activities for the entire family complete the daylong event. Souvenir, clothing and jewelry vendors will be on site.
