Eight Arab nations at the World Cup is a new record, the nations competing now know who, and where they will play their matches. All 48 countries are split into twelve groups of four. The top two finishers in each group automatically qualify for the knockout stage of the tournament. Eight of the twelve highest third place finishers will also qualify for the next round. From that point on, the tournament is a single elimination tournament. Here is everything you need to know about the Arab World at the FIFA World Cup.
Algeria: Group J
Team Headquarters: University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS
Algeria will open the 2026 FIFA World Cup on June 16th at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City against defending champions Argentina. The match will be televised on FOX at 9:00 PM ET. Algeria’s second group stage match will take place on June 22nd at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, California against Jordan. The match will kick off at 11:00 PM ET. Their final group stage match will take place on June 27th at Arrowhead Stadium once again, as they will face Austria at 10:00 PM ET.
The obvious favorite to win Group J is Argentina, but the other three countries will all believe they have a realistic chance of qualifying.
Egypt: Group G
Team Headquarters: Gonzaga University, Spokane, WA
Egypt will make their first World Cup appearance since 2018 when they were eliminated in the group stage. The Egyptians opening match will be against Belgium on June 15th at nearby Lumen Field in Seattle. The match will take place at 3:00 PM ET on FOX. Egypt’s second group stage match will be against New Zealand on June 21st across the northern border in Vancouver, Canada, at the BC Place stadium. Kick-off will be at 9:00 PM ET on FOX Sports 1. In their penultimate group stage match on June 26th, Egypt will face Iran at 11:00 PM Lumen Field in Seattle. The match will also be televised on FOX Sports 1.
While Belgium are the favorites to win Group G, Egypt are fairly evenly matched with Iran and New Zealand, giving them a realistic possibility of advancing.
Iraq: Group I
Team Headquarters: Greenbriar Sports Performance Centre, White Sulphur Springs, WV
Iraq will make their first World Cup appearance since 1986 after becoming the final team to qualify following a win over Bolivia in the FIFA Play-Offs. They will open their campaign against Norway at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts on June 16th at 6:00 PM ET. The match will be televised on FOX. Iraq will then face 2018 champions France on June 22nd at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia at 5:00 PM ET. That match will be televised on FOX as well. In Iraq’s final group stage match, they will face Senegal at BMO Field in Toronto, Canada at 3:00 PM ET on June 26th.
Iraq will be large underdogs in this group. The three other teams in the group are all favored against them.
Jordan: Group J
Team Headquarters: University of Portland, Portland, OR
Jordan will make their first ever appearance at a World Cup this year. In their first ever World Cup match on June 17th, Jordan will face Austria at midnight ET at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. They will then face fellow Arab nation Algeria on June 22nd at the same stadium. That match will kick off at 11:00 PM ET. In their final group match, Jordan will face Argentina on June 27th at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas. That match will begin at 10:00 PM ET. The first two matches will be televised on FOX Sports 1 while the final game will be on FOX.
Jordan are predicted to finish bottom of Group J, but a path is open to a possible surprise, with Argentina being the only traditional powerhouse in the group.
Morocco: Group C
Team Headquarters: Pingry School, Basking Ridge, NJ
Morocco will return to the World Cup after becoming the first African nation to reach a World Cup semifinal in 2022. Morocco open their campaign against Brazil on June 13th at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. That match will start at 6:00 PM ET and be televised on FOX Sports 1. Morocco will then head to Massachusetts on June 19th to take on Scotland at Gillette Stadium. Morocco vs Scotland will start at 6:00 PM on FOX. Morocco’s final group game will take place on June 24th against Haiti at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. That match will begin at 6:00 PM on Fox Sports 1.
Morocco are favorites to finish 2nd in Group C behind Brazil, with some even predicting Morocco as a “dark horse” to win the group.
Qatar: Group B
Team Headquarters: Westmont College, Santa Barbara, CA
Qatar hosted the World Cup four years ago but failed to win a single match in their tournament debut. Four years later, they will look to show growth. On June 13th the Qataris open their campaign against Switzerland at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA at 3:00 PM ET on FOX. They will then head to Vancouver to take on Canada at the BC Place. Qatar vs Canada will start at 6:00 PM ET on June 18th on FOX Sports 1. Finally, Qatar will face Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 24th at 3:00 PM ET in Seattle.
While Qatar are underdogs in this group, their success in Asian continental competitions will give them confidence.
Saudi Arabia: Group H
Team Headquarters: Austin FC Stadium, Austin, TX
Saudi Arabia will be making their third consecutive World Cup appearance. Following a shocking win over Argentina in 2022, they lost their final two group matches and failed to advance. Saudi Arabia’s opening group match will take place on June 9th at 6:00 PM against Uruguay in Miami. They will then head to Atlanta to take on European champions Spain on June 21st. The match against Spain will kick-off at noon. In their penultimate group game, Saudi Arabia will play Cape Verde on June 26th in Houston. This game will start at 8:00 PM ET.
With Spain and Uruguay being the large favorites, Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde will likely be competing for a 3rd place spot and a chance to advance.
Tunisia: Group F
Team Headquarters: Rayados Training Center, Santiago, Nuevo Leon, Mexico
Tunisia, like Saudi Arabia, will make their third consecutive World Cup appearance. Tunisia’s first match in Group F will be on Fox Sports 1 against Sweden in Monterrey, Mexico. The match will start at 10:00 PM ET on June 14th. Tunisia’s second match will also be in Monterrey against Japan on June 21st. Tunisia vs Japan will start at midnight ET on Fox Sports 1. They face the Netherlands in their final group game on June 25th at 7:00 PM ET on FOX. This match will take place in Kansas City.
Tunisia will look to make it out of the Group Stage for the first time in their seventh World Cup appearance.
