Introduction:

Did you know about the Middle Eastern rapper taking the internet by storm? Anees Mokhiber who goes by Anees the rapper started his music career when he was 15 years old. Anees identifies as a  hip-hop indie-pop artist. Anees grew up on games such as Scramble and smart mouth, games that made you think on the spot and piece together words from just a couple of letters. Anees’ story is very inspirational. As a first-generation Arab, he grew up with the idea that he had to go to college and become a doctor or Lawyer. Anees followed through on this agenda, attending undergraduate and also attending Law School. Throughout his time in school, Anees would freestyle as a destresser. And after acquiring his law degree Anees realized that’s not what he loves or wants to do as a career. That’s when Anees began to practice music more and more and write lyrics that would eventually be published on all music streaming platforms.

Anees’ first song “Neverland Fly” is about his struggle with mental health and how he has overcome that phase in his life. Anees addresses mental health in such a great way through his music. Many people believe mental health should be dealt with professionally, but sometimes it just takes a relatable song to get through a hard time.  Anees really portrays that through his music. After the success of “Neverland Fly”, Anees has been releasing songs ever so often each being a hit among his fans and gaining thousands of fans after each release.

Anees career choices are very different then many people in the community or even compared to the world. Yet, Anees says his biggest supporters are not only his fans but his family supports him more than anyone else could. And calls his mom the president of his fan club.

During a instagram live stream back in April 2020 after his release of “Slip” the world famous pop star Justin Bebier joined his Instagram live. It turns out he is a fan and fell in love with Anees new song. The two talked about music and faith. Anees also performed the song during their little instagram live session. Anees typically gets 100 people watching his live streams, with Justin Bebier Anees got to display his music for over 60,000 people, something upcoming rappers dream of. The song Slip is a love song he wrote about his wife. His moment with Justin Bebeier has opened the doors to so many opportunities.

Anees has this fun thing he does on his instagram stories called boba thoughts. Where he shares life advice while drinking boba from the famous chain Kung Fu Tea. He talks about the ups and downs in life and how to always look forward to tomorrow and the happiness it can bring. Boba thoughts are such a great way to get a little inspiration during your day.

To conclude Anees is an artist of the arab diaspora. He has shown us it’s okay to break social norms as long as you’re doing what you love. Each song tells a different story that thousands of his fans relate to. Aneese is only just starting his career there is so much this inspirational man will accomplish in his lifetime. He is an amazing representation of the Arab American people and our love for what we do whether it’s owning a small business or making music. Arab America divest their life into their dreams and Anees The Rapper is a great representation of that.
