Abstract: In my presentation I aim to examine the quotation of Ephrem the Syrian by Miaphysite and East-Syrian authors writing in Arabic, namely Abū Rāiʾṭah al-Takrītī (9th cen.), Yaḥyā b. ʿAdī (10th cen.), Severus b. al-Muqaffaʿ (10th cen.), Sabirīšūʿ b. Būlūs (12th cen.) and Ṣalība al-Mawṣilī (15th cen.). Each author considers the used quotation(s) as a demonstration of the correctness of his own doctrine. The presentation intends, then, to offer an analysis of these Ephremian quotations, and the different ways and contexts in which they were used.
