Come join us for a night of dancing and solidarity at Union Square Park! Let’s honor the legacy of Fred Hampton and show our support for Palestine through music and movement. This in-person event will bring together communities to celebrate freedom and unity. Don’t miss out on this powerful evening of connection and activism. See you there!

Time Activity 6:30 PM Arrival & Setup — Organizers and volunteers set up the speaker, mic, lights, and backdrop with posters and images honoring Fred Hampton and Palestine. Sound check + warm-up music. 7:00 PM Opening Circle — Welcome everyone. Grounding moment of silence for Fred Hampton, victims of colonial violence, and all oppressed peoples. Brief statement about the purpose of Dance to Freedom. 7:10 PM Invocation & Call to Movement — Read a quote by Fred Hampton (“You can kill a revolutionary, but you can’t kill the revolution.”). Invite everyone to join in the first freestyle dance. 7:15 PM Freestyle Dance Begins — Cardi B, Beyoncé, and Latinx/hip-hop tracks set the tone. Encourage the public to step in, move, and express freely. 7:30 PM First Performance Block — Short performances (dance, spoken word, or song) centered on liberation, resistance, or Palestine solidarity. 7:45 PM Open Circle

8:00 PM Second Performance Block — Optional invited performers or spontaneous participants share pieces (movement, poetry, song). 8:20 PM Community Chant & Freestyle — Transition into protest chants and unified dancing: “The people united will never be defeated” / “Free Palestine” / “I am a revolutionary.” 8:40 PM Closing Song & Circle — Slow down the energy with songs like “Freedom” (Beyoncé) or “Umi Says” (Mos Def). Group reflection or affirmation: “We move for the people.” 9:00 PM Wrap-Up — Thank everyone. Take group photo/video. Clean up and pack down. Optional invitation to a local café or gathering for post-event reflection.
