Arab Center Washington DC is convening a panel of experts to examine the extent of arbitrary detentions and enforced disappearances in Syria, to outline the processes already set up to address this crisis, to analyze international and legal mechanisms that deal with disappearances and detentions in Syria and the shortcomings and challenges associated with them, and to propose new mechanisms to confront this urgent calamity in order to get the detainees released from custody, to find information on missing persons, to provide families access to the truth, and to set up avenues for accountability and justice.
