The darbuka (also known as dumbek, derbeke or tabla) is the most iconic percussive instrument in Middle Eastern music and is popular in many countries including Egypt, Turkey, Lebanon and Greece.

Playing darbuka is fun,exciting, expressive and is also great for neuro-plasticity! Our lessons are taught by Adelaide’s leading teacher of darbuka, Harry Trikaliotis. They are relaxed, friendly, educational and open to all attendees whether you are a complete beginner or more advanced. You get opportunities to perform at events every now and then which adds to confidence-building.

Lessons are one hour in duration and include a combination of theory and practical. We learn the various rhythms of the Middle East, different playing techniques, stylization and so much more! Each lesson is only $25 and you can pay as you go.
