Nakba Rememberance Day, observed annually on May 15th, commemmorates the Nakba (“catastrophe” in Arabic), marking the beginnning of the mass displacement of Palestinians from their land. In 1948, Palestinians experienced the forced displacement of over 750,000 people and the massacre of numerous Palestinian villages. This marked the beginning of a history of persecution, occupation, and displacement for the Palestinian people.
This day serves as a poignant reminder of the ongoing Palestinian struggle for justice and liberation. So join us for a day of reflection, remembrance, education, and art as we honor the Palestinian struggle for liberation and reclaim our narrative.
This in-person event will feature guest speaker and author Rose Esber, Nakba survivor testimonies, music and poetry, and more! Let’s come together to commemorate this important day and honor the ongoing sacrifices of the Palestinian people .
