Hanan Karaman Munayyer
Hanan Karaman Munayyer began her journey in preserving Palestinian Heritage and Costume in 1987 and by 1992, with her husband, Farah Munayyer, established the Palestinian Heritage Foundation, a nonprofit cultural and educational organization dedicated to preserving Arab and Palestinian art, textiles, and folklore.
As a scientist by education and training for over 37 years, she has developed a deep understanding of Palestinian embroidery, textile arts, and history.
Munayyer is the author of Traditional Palestinian Costume: Origins and Evolution, which was awarded the Book of the Year for 2011 by ForeWord Reviews.
Reem Jubran, film director of Don’t Be Long Little Bird
Reem Jubran is a filmmaker and visual artist based between Southern California and Palestine. Her photography and cinematic work explores identity, memory, and freedom. She completed several short film projects while achieving her B.A. in Film Studies from the University of California, Berkeley and continued her film education in Palestine, where she worked as Assistant Director on Palestinian narrative feature films.
Don’t Be Long, Little Bird is Reem’s first international project. Reem’s and film are featured in the PBS Artbound Series documentary episode called LA Rebellion: A Cinematic Movement, where she represents a continuation of the legacy and solidarity between black, brown, and indigenous filmmakers at UCLA.
