Dabke and Dialogue: An afternoon of Solidarity with Palestine
You are invited to an afternoon of community, dialogue, fundraising and cultural celebration in solidarity with Palestine. Together, we’ll explore how social workers, educators, faith leaders, artists, and community members of all kinds can bring solidarity into their daily lives and collective work for justice.
The event will begin with speakers from El-Funoun Palestinian Popular Dance Troupe discussing their history and values.
Then we will form breakout discussion groups to provide space to connect around shared identities, professions, and passions, deepening both conversation and community.
The afternoon will culminate in a Dabke workshop led by members of renowned El-Funoun, where we’ll learn this traditional Palestinian dance and its powerful role in culture and resistance.
Small bites and drinks will be provided and there will be a silent auction throughout with products from Justseeds Artists’ Cooperative, Wear the Peace, Handmade Palestine.
Get your tickets now! The entry to the event is a sliding scale from $0 so that there is no financial barrier to attend. Under 18 do not need a ticket; donations are welcome. All proceeds will directly support El-Funoun’s cultural preservation efforts.
This event is organized in collaboration with El-Funoun by a collective representing the following organizations: Social Workers for Justice in Palestine, NYC Educators for Palestine, USA Palestine Mental Health Network, Asians for Palestine, Amplify Palestine and Middle Collegiate Church.
The event is endorsed by Jewish Voice for Peace New York City (JVP-NYC), Palestinian Youth Movement New York City (PYM-NYC), and Network to Advance Abolitionist Social Work (NAASW).
