Laura Loomer: The Anti-Palestinian Islamophobic Influencer who infiltrated Trump’s Inner Circle

The promotion of online influencers to promote a narrative has become a massive campaign strategy pushed by Donald Trump. It’s been part of a larger effort by the MAGA movement to appeal to younger voters. The youth vote had been a weak point for the Republican Party. There is a notable effort by the campaign to dig into the narrative of a conspiracy by a “deep state”. A conspiracy to change America, and its culture for the worse. A nostalgic view of old America vs a new metropolitan, multicultural, liberal elite. In the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Laura Loomer is an influencer who has gained influence in Trump’s inner circle. Loomer has described herself as a “proud islamophobe”. 

Loomer’s controversial statements

Loomer, like the majority of MAGA influencers, celebrated the opening of the “Alligator Alcatraz”. This is a detention center in Florida for migrants that is surrounded by Alligator infested waters. It serves as a natural barrier to any possible escape. Loomer said “Alligators are guaranteed at least 65 million meals” this is the population of Latinos in the United States. 

Laura Loomer promoted and continues to promote the birther conspiracy. This is a theory popularized by Donald Trump during the 2012 campaign that alleged that Barack Obama is not a natural born US citizen. Despite the Obama administration releasing the birth certificate, Loomer believes it is fake.

Loomer-Carlson Feud

Loomer has been unapologetically on the side of the State of Israel throughout the crisis in Gaza. She has been a litmus tester of other conservative influencers’ loyalty to the president. Loomer began a social media campaign against people on the right who were becoming opposed, or at the very least, questioning of Trump’s Pro-Israel foreign policy. This particularly heated up during the 12-day war between Israel and Iran back in June. Loomer was involved in a huge online feud with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson. Carlson had been in total opposition with any US involvement in the Israel-Iran conflict. On Carlson’s podcast he questioned the constant flow of US military aid to Israel. He questioned how the American people benefited from the alliance.

Loomer became X’s enforcer of what constituted loyalty to the president. At almost the exact time of the 12-Day War, Trump went on his own twitter tirade against Tucker Carlson for dare questioning his commitment to an “America First” agenda. Trump called Tucker Carlson “kooky” while at the same time reiterating in all caps that Iran cannot possess a nuclear weapon. In an interview in June, Trump took a sly dig at Tucker’s firing from Fox News, claiming that no one knew what Tucker was saying because he wasn’t on any network. 

Loomer accused Tucker Carlson of being paid by the Qatar to spread Anti-Israel narratives.

Loomer’s Influence Inside the Trump White House

It has been speculated in the media that Donald Trump and Laura Loomer had a closer relationship than indicated. She has openly stated having a line of direct communication to the White House. Loomer claimed that Trump was her main ally in the White House, having gained the ear of the president in spite of opposition to her involvement elsewhere in Trump’s sphere of influence. 

Laura Loomer has openly stated she is happy to “field tips” about Trump administration employees who are possibly disloyal to the president.  Firings of staff in accordance with those facing criticism from Loomer have led the media to speculate that she is directly involved in a purge of staffers. This is a claim denied by the President. 

Gaza Visa Controversy

The latest developments in Gaza have led to a “smoking gun” of sorts in relation to the rumors behind Loomer’s influence inside the administration. Loomer called the State Department out on X for granting medical visas for Palestinians. These are patients who need lifesaving treatment that is unavailable in the Gaza Strip. 

The State Department has subsequently paused all visitor visas from Gaza. Loomer applauded the move claiming we are “not the world’s hospital”. In a reply to Loomer’s X post, a user asked if it was children needing medical attention. Loomer replied that even if it was children, Gazans are “using kids as an excuse to import the entire family”. 

The response is in the context of a larger belief from Loomer that there is a coordinated Muslim invasion of the United States.
