AL NADWA FREETHINKING SOCIETY, in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace-Detroit (JVP-D), Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM), and Peace Action of Michigan proudly invite you to three opportunities to hear presentations by Dr. Ilan Pappé. On Tuesday, May 14, 2024 Please join us for the second presentation by Dr. Pappé at the Historic Unitarian Universalist Church, home of the Cass Corridor Commons. This is a center that embraces gatherings of people challenging injustice and advancing progressive thinking. Along with EMEAC (Eastern Michigan Environmental Action Council), the space is shared by the Michigan Audubon Society, students from U-M’s Semester In Detroit, and the Sugar Law Center for Economic and Social Justice. The Detroit Independent Freedom Schools and the People’s Water Board meet at the Commons regularly. This is a perfect and magnificent space to hear Pappé’s inspiring voice.

Ilan Pappé (Hebrew: אילן פפה, pronounced [iˈlan paˈpe]; born 7 November 1954) is an Israeli historian, political scientist and former politician. He is a professor with the College of Social Sciences and International Studies at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom, director of the university’s European Centre for Palestine Studies, and co-director of the Exeter Centre for Ethno-Political Studies. In a 2004 interview, Pappé said. “The aim has always been, and it still remains, to have as much of Palestine as possible with as few Palestinians in it as possible.”[8] He blames the creation of Israel for the lack of peace in the Middle East, arguing that Zionism is more dangerous than Islamic militancy, and has called for an international boycott of Israeli academics.
