This workshop will explore belly dance as a way to consciously release tension and bring calm awareness back to the body.
This workshop will explore belly dance as a way to consciously release tension and bring calm awareness back to the body. We will focus on grounding techniques, intentionally syncing up belly dance moves with the breath to activate the parasympathetic nervous system and bring dancers back into their bodies. By the end of the workshop, each dancer will have created their own personal Somatic Dance Ritual.
Jessica “Queen Bastet” has been performing and teaching belly dance for over twenty years. Her style is a blend of American Cabaret, Egyptian Raqs Sharqi, and Turkish Romany with American dance forms and theatrical elements. As a reiki practitioner and former massage therapist, she has seen how belly dance can be a powerful tool for grounding, connecting, and understanding the body. Dance is a healing force and a powerful form of expression.
