Renee Ahee Named One of 2009 Top Ten Michigan Business Women by NAWBO Greater Detroit

NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) Greater Detroit Chapter has recognized Renée Ahee, president of public relations and marketing firm Ahee Communications, Inc., as one of its 2009 Top Ten Michigan Business Women.

Ahee was selected Diversity Champion. An awards luncheon was held in early spring at the Detroit Yacht Club.

The Diversity Champion is awarded to “a woman, organization or business that has promoted and facilitated diversity.”

“I’m proud to have been selected as NAWBO’s Diversity Champion for 2009,” said Ahee. “Diversity has been a passion of mine ever since I can remember. In this world of contrasts, we are challenged and we grow when people and things are not the same. The world becomes exciting for its differences.”

Now in its 16th year, NAWBO Greater Detroit selects the Top 10 Michigan Business Women in the following performance categories: Diversity Champion; Breakthrough; Giving Spirit; Global Business; Pinnacle; Rainmaker; Red Tape Buster; Up-and-coming; Warrior and Words of Wisdom.

Of Lebanese descent, Ahee is active in the Arab American community, serving on the Advisory Board of the Lebanese American Chamber of Commerce and co-founding the Arab American Women’s Business Council in 2006. She previously served on the National Task Force for the Arab American National Museum and as Program Coordinator for the Center for Arab American Studies at the University of Michigan – Dearborn.
