Report Card Mixed on Biden Administration’s Commitment to Balanced Approach towards Arabs at Home and Abroad

Arab America reported optimistically about November 2020’s Biden-Harris victory. We believed that Arabs, especially Palestinians, and Muslims worldwide would have something positive to look forward to. Contributing writer John Mason renders a ‘B+’ grade for the Biden Administration’s support of Arab Americans and non-Arab Muslim-Americans. However, only a ‘D’ grade is rendered for Biden’s handling of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Realpolitik and Palestinian disillusionment with Biden’s approach portend continued faltering progress in achieving freedom and justice for Palestinians.

Three American Cases Falsely Equate Anti-Government-of-Israel/Pro-Palestinian Sentiment with Antisemitism

Arab American and Muslim Rep. Ilhan Omar has been threatened by new House leader McCarthy from serving on the Foreign Affairs Committee. While she’s accused of antisemitism, her criticism is of Israeli oppressive action against Palestinians. On another front, John Mason, contributing writer, reports on how the state of Virginia is launching a legal case against those who support the BDS or boycott on Israel. CNN’s Christian Amanpour recently interviewed Israeli popularist Yuval Noah Harari. He purported that the Israeli public no longer believes in the two-state solution. Rather, they now believe in one state with three classes. Palestinians would be at the bottom with few or no rights. Contributing writer, John Mason, contrasts Hariri’s ideas with a newly published article by Columbia University’s Joseph Massad. In that article, the author avers that Zionist ideologues have all along believed in their own supremacy, which would ultimately lead to delegitimizing Palestinians’ rights to their own land.

Over the past few years, anxious Israeli leaders have been pressing the U.S. to join the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). A major complaint of the U.S. is Israel’s mistreatment of Palestinian Americans trying to return to their homeland via Israel. Contributing writer, John Mason, reports that in the past several days, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) indicated that Israel continues to fail to meet VWP requirements.
