One-day conference followed by a concert exploring sound and music in Muslim contexts. In person and virtual attendance.
The conference will examine four key dimensions of sound and music in Muslim contexts: sound practices in Islam, oral tradition and memorization, music education in Muslim communities and understanding Islam through its art. The conference concludes with an evening concert featuring three ensembles performing musical traditions from across the Muslim world.
