WASHINGTON, DC.

A performance and introduction to the work of Anera and Ashtar Theatre

Join us on January 24, 2024 at 6pm for a powerful evening of theater and solidarity. After a global call by Ramallah-based Ashtar Theatre, theaters worldwide have come together to stage performances of their renowned 2010 work, Gaza Monologues. This inspiring play presents 31 monologues written by teenagers from different parts of Gaza, many of whom had no prior experience in theater. The Ashtar Theatre made the playscript available for free, translated into multiple languages, and encouraged theaters to offer these performances on November 29th, the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

In the United States, numerous collaborative performances, both in person and online, took place on November 29th. Now, the Ashtar Theater director and team extend an invitation to anyone who wishes to answer this call in future performances.

This event will provide DMV residents with the opportunity to come together in person for a staged reading of the monologues. Attendees will also receive updates on the young authors and an introduction to the work of the humanitarian organization Anera and the Ashtar Theatre.
