Join us for a hands-on painting workshop exploring Palestine, memory, identity, and diaspora through still life.
Working with symbolic objects that carry stories of home, ritual, and inheritance, participants will reflect on the ways everyday things can hold the memory of family, place, and belonging.
Led by artist Sarah Alsamarai, the workshop will invite participants to develop a personal symbol—an object or image connected to their own history and experience—and transform it into a painted composition. In Palestinian and diasporic life, objects such as olives, coffee vessels, pomegranates, and olive branches can carry what is not always easily said: memory, loss, continuity, care, and attachment to homeland. Through guided prompts, sketching, and painting exercises, participants will create a piece that reflects both personal memory and broader cultural narrative.
No prior painting experience is needed. All materials will be provided.
